I disabled all the bloatware and it became smooth. There was an insane amount of lag initially with the UI but then I found all the windows background apps were on. Inside the drive itself, the read/write starts off at around 1gb/s and then goes down and settles at around 400mbps. It is about 150mbps from the m.2 drive to other internal ssds. The read/write speeds definitely seem faster. Not sure if that's coz of win 10 or the Md.2 or both or just my imagination. It's hard to tell but there is a perception of the overall UI experience being smoother now. Hey there, thanks :) It's working fine as far as I can tell.

So you might have to just use the media creation tool to install windows 10 then copy all of your files over from your original drive that has windows 7 on it.

I know there is the option to just upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, and it will automatically keep all of your files but that may not be an option if the drive isn't detected in Disk Mananger. With the flashdrive plugged in turn on your computer, and the media creation tool should start it's process of installing Windows 10 to the nvme drive. Once it's installed and Windows says it's ready then shut down your pc, remove all of your drives except for the m.2 nvme. It will install onto the flashdrive., it might take a while. Go onto the thumbdrive and click the install file.

Download the media creation tool and copy the install file over to the blank thumbdrive. That is what you will need to install windows 10, make sure you have a blank USB flashdrive handy, and if it's usb3.0 thats even better. Is it showing in Disk Manager in Windows? If so head over to google and search windows media creation tool. Okay so it shows up as as a boot option so it's being detected. I will add additional details if needed.) I only have bought a win 10 key, not a physical copy with a pendrive or cd.)ĭETAILS:Motherboard - Z97 Gaming 5 MotherboardNvme Ssd - Samsung 500gb - V-NAND SSD 970 EVO PlusBIOS version - e7917IMS V1.13Other internal harddisks are in Sata1, Sata2 and Sata4ĪDDITIONAL IMAGES:BIOSSystem status - Boot options - Save & Exit - SLOT - Integrated Peripherals. (Does that mean it's possible to put win 10 on a usb and make it install from that directly? I'm unsure, I've never installed windows myself before. The only place the ssd shows up is in the boot option as seen in the pictures. I've also tried removing the other harddrives and swapping them around. Please help.Īlso, I've tried hotplugging the ssd in when the system was on, after enabling hot plug in bios for slot 5 & 6, after seeing that suggestion on another forum where they said that had worked for them but that did not work for me. I have win 7 currently and want to install win 10 on this ssd which is why I bought it. But it is still not showing up in the BIOS as an ssd storage, or in windows.

The manual for this motherboard says using the m.2 port will make Sata 5 and 6 slots unavailable, so I've not got any other harddisk occupying those slots. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version and have put the nvme ssd in the m.2 port. I'm having trouble getting my motherboard to detect a new ssd I purchased.
